1. MUG Shot Sentence #11 (7 corrections) -
She closed the book and looked at the clock she had finished reading The Elder Brothers at exactly 1204 pm (632, 600, 595, 681)
2. Vocabulary - We'll double check the spelling on this week's flashcards and then spend a few minutes reviewing.
3. Reading Workshop - Remember the 20th!
4. Dewey Decimal System - You will go to the library and find books whose call numbers fit in each section of the Dewey Decimal System, including a biography and a collection of short stories. On the worksheet, you'll write the title, the name of the author, and the exact call number of each book. This is due today.
5. Author Books - While we do our library unit, you will be completing a research project using each of the resources we discuss in class. At the end of the unit, you will produce a booklet about one of the authors whose work we'll be reading in class this semester. Today we're going to go over the list of authors (slide show) and the details about the assignment (2 handouts). You will be working on this with a partner of your own choosing (subject to my approval - if I think you won't work efficiently together, I won't let you work together), so you and your partner will need to sign up for the author you wish research. These choices must be made by next Wednesday.
6. If there's any extra time, you may use it to work on your floor plans. Remember, they're due when we come back after the long week-end.
ASSIGNMENTS TO REMEMBER: Floor plans due Wed., Feb. 20, partner choices and author sign-up by Wed., Feb. 20
Extra Credit: Design a new cover for the book you're currently reading. It must be done in color and can be done on 8 1/2 x 11 white paper. Include an explanation of your design and why you chose it. The explanation should either be written neatly in ink on looseleaf paper or typed and be 6-10 sentences in length. This is due by Friday, February 22. (Up to 15 pts.)
